treatment during pregnancy
During pregnancy, many changes occur in the body. The growth of the abdomen, the altered posture, and the increased weight put extra pressure on the pelvis, back, and organs. This can lead to complaints such as pelvic pain, lower back pain, rib pain, or a stuffy feeling.
Osteopathy helps the body to adapt better to these changes. With gentle techniques, we improve the mobility of the pelvis, the vertebral column, and the surrounding structures. This creates more space, relaxation, and blood flow – without burdening mother or child.
If the baby does not want to turn properly in the last weeks of pregnancy (for example, in the case of a breech presentation), osteopathy can provide support in some cases. By reducing tension around the pelvis and uterus, more space is often created, allowing the baby to move and turn more easily.
Osteopathy is a safe and natural support during pregnancy – to relieve complaints and prepare the body for childbirth.
fertility and getting pregnant
Getting pregnant seems self-evident, but unfortunately, it is not for everyone. In many cases, a pregnancy fails to occur without a clear medical cause being found. In such situations, osteopathy can be a valuable addition.
A pregnancy requires more than just a good cycle or a healthy egg cell. The body must also feel that the circumstances are safe and supportive. When there are tensions or disturbances somewhere in the body – for example, in the organs, muscles, joints, or connective tissue – the nervous system can unconsciously send the signal: ‘now is not the right moment’.
The body may then choose to postpone a pregnancy as a protective mechanism. As an osteopath, I investigate whether there are movement restrictions, tensions, or blockages that disrupt this natural process. With gentle techniques, I treat the area around the uterus, pelvis, and surrounding structures, so that blood flow, mobility, and relaxation are restored.
Osteopathy also helps the body to calm down and relax better. This supports recovery, hormonal balance, and the conditions for a healthy pregnancy.
Osteopathy is not a replacement for medical fertility care, but it can certainly strengthen it. Osteopathy can also help with fertility treatments such as IVF or IUI to optimally prepare the body and allow it to respond better to the treatment.
What can you expect from the treatment?
Usually, 2 to 3 treatments are sufficient. In the case of medical treatments, such as IVF or IUI, I often plan the treatments around the hormone stimulation or the transfer. Sometimes we also plan one after the transfer to reduce tension and support the body in restoring balance.
